Every Saturday night, a lottery draw takes place across Australia. This national lottery is known as TattsLotto in Victoria, Tasmania and the Northern Territory; Gold Lotto in Queensland and X Lotto in South Australia.
The results are televised live at around 8:30pm. You can also see the results later online or in The Lott app. The results are available as soon as the televised draw is finished.
Game rules
Tattslotto is a national Saturday night lottery game conducted by the Tattersall’s Group, which also operates Oz Lotteries. It is a 6-from-49 game that draws every Saturday and has multiple prize divisions. The top prize is one in eight million, and winning the jackpot requires a combination of all six numbers.
Winning the lottery involves understanding how to make mathematically informed choices based on the probability of the combinations you choose. There are many methods to increase your chances of winning, including buying more tickets. However, you should be wary of any system that promises to win more prizes. This is because the expected value of the lottery is always negative.
You can buy a Tattslotto ticket online or in-store, with an Advance entry, Multi-week entry or Subscription entry. An Advance entry lets you play your Tattslotto ticket into a future draw up to 10 weeks in advance. A Multi-week entry lets you play your Tattslotto entry across multiple draws. A subscription entry automatically enters you into all future draws and special events, including Superdraws.
Prizes
Each week TattsLotto offers a minimum $5 million Division 1 prize pool and regularly holds $20 million Superdraw events. Each draw has eight balls drawn at random from a transparent barrel numbered 1 to 45, with the first six numbers becoming the winning numbers and the final two balls used for supplementary prizes.
The supplementary prizes are available to those who match three or more winning numbers in a single game panel. There are also several other ways to win, including selecting a marked entry, Quick Pick or System entry. There are also a number of additional add-ons available for purchase, including Lotto Strike.
All winnings are paid in a tax-free lump sum. Oz Lotteries deposits winnings into a customer’s online account as soon as the lottery results are released each Saturday night. This is a safer and more convenient way to claim your prize. Check your tickets against past lottery results using the ticket checker. For more details please visit tatts lotto results
Taxes
The big risk associated with Tatts is its reliance on Government licences, which are not cheap – when it bought the NSW lotteries license in 2010, it paid $850m. While the company has a near-monopoly, there is always the possibility that the Government could award a competitor a licence at the next bidding process. This is a long-term risk, but it is not likely to be a major threat in the short term.
The company’s Wagering division, which operates tote and fixed odds betting on sports in Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory, also faces long-term risks. However, these aren’t nearly as severe as those for the Lotteries division. The Wagering division is less capital-intensive than the Lotteries division, but it still relies on expensive retail outlets.
